Mumbai: Five Arrested for Smuggling Hydroponic Weed Worth ₹56 Crore from Bangkok

Mumbai, India: Customs officials at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport intercepted five passengers arriving from Bangkok and seized 56.26 kg of hydroponic weed (cannabis), valued at ₹56.26 crore. The contraband was concealed in trolley bags, and the accused have been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985.

Malwani Police Bust Drug Smuggling Gang Using Steel Bottles

In a separate operation, Malwani Police cracked a drug smuggling racket where narcotics were concealed inside modified steel water bottles. Acting under DCP Anand Bhoite (Zone 11) and Senior Inspector Shailendra Nagarkar, officers arrested two 19-year-old students from Mira Road, identified as Vinit Sunil Singh and Shiven Parkar. Seized drugs include MDMA, LSD, and ganja, worth approximately ₹10 lakh.

Khar Police Officers Booked for Planting Drugs

Meanwhile, Vakola Police registered an FIR after 112 days against four Khar Police Station personnel for planting drugs on a man in Kalina on August 30.

Authorities continue investigations into all cases to identify further links and dismantle smuggling networks.
