Quick Response by RPF Team Ensures Safe Return of Valuables

Mumbai, July 17: In a commendable display of honesty and efficiency, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) Andheri reunited a 21-year-old woman with her lost bag containing valuables worth over ₹2 lakh, which she had accidentally left behind on a local train.
The incident occurred on July 15, when RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector Lalit Kumar Tripathi, Constable Poonam Dixit, and MSF staff member Suryakant Panchal were patrolling Platform Number 7 at Andheri station. They were alerted by commuters about an unattended bag lying in one of the local train compartments.
Acting swiftly, the RPF team secured the bag and brought it to the RPF Andheri post for inspection. During the examination, officials found an identity card with a contact number inside. Using the number, they reached out to the owner, who was identified as Munali More, daughter of Vinay More, a resident of Santosh Apartment, Patel Pada, Dahanu Road (East).
Munali More arrived at the post shortly after being contacted and explained that she had left the bag behind in a hurry during her journey. After verifying her identity with valid documents, the RPF opened the bag in her presence. Upon inspection, More confirmed that all the belongings were intact.
The bag contained a gold chain weighing 2 tolas valued at ₹1,90,000, ₹15,000 in cash, two ATM cards, and several personal items including a purse, tiffin box, umbrella, scarf, and books. The total estimated value of the contents was ₹2,06,700.
“All the items were safely handed over to Ms. More, who expressed heartfelt gratitude towards the RPF Andheri team for their integrity and prompt action,” said an RPF official. A photograph of the handover was taken and included in the official record as part of standard procedure.
The incident has been widely appreciated by commuters and highlights the RPF’s commitment to passenger safety and public service.
