Mumbai to Get Relief from Heat as Showers Expected from Monday

Mumbai, Maharashtra: In a welcome break from the summer heat, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light drizzles and thundershowers for Mumbai and its neighboring districts in the upcoming week. While no warning has been issued for Mumbai, a yellow alert has been sounded for Thane and Raigad between March 31 (Monday) and April 1 (Tuesday).

On Friday, IMD data recorded maximum temperatures of 33.6°C at Santacruz and 31°C at Colaba. However, a rise in temperature is expected over the weekend, with mercury levels crossing 36°C, before cooling down to 33°C after April 2 due to showers.

Mumbai is likely to see light drizzles and cloudy skies on Monday, followed by thunderstorms and rainfall on Tuesday evening. Meanwhile, Thane and Raigad may experience heavier rain activity, with gusty winds reaching 30-40 km/h at isolated places.

While summer showers are uncommon, Mumbai has witnessed pre-monsoon rainfall in the past. IMD records show March 2023 as the wettest March on record with 17 mm rainfall, surpassing previous highs of 10 mm in 2016 and 13 mm in 2015.
