Byculla, Mumbai: In a shocking turn of events, Byculla police arrested a 30-year-old man for attempting a robbery at a businessman’s house in the Mazgaon Garden area on Monday evening. The accused, Taurikul Shaudul Dalal, who was the caregiver for an elderly person in the same building, barged into the family’s home wearing a burqa. Holding the businessman’s 14-year-old daughter hostage with a toy gun, Dalal demanded gold, valuables, and mobile phones.
The businessman’s wife, Sumera Shamsi, initially mistook the situation for a prank. However, realizing the gravity when she heard a man’s voice behind the burqa, she acted quickly. Distracting the robber, she managed to snatch the gun from his hand, rescuing her daughter. As Dalal threatened to have a bomb, Sumera screamed for help, attracting the neighbors who caught him after revealing his identity. The neighbors helped remove Dalal’s burqa, exposing his role as the caregiver from the 11th floor.
Dalal, facing severe financial distress, hatched the plan and now faces serious charges, including extortion, unlawful entry, and criminal intimidation. He is being interrogated further by the police.
