Nanny Brutally Assaults 4-Year-Old Boy Outside Jio Drive Mall; Case Registered at BKC Police Station

Mumbai, June 25: In a deeply disturbing incident that has shocked residents of Bandra East, a 4-year-old boy was allegedly brutally assaulted by his nanny outside the Jio Drive Mall. The Bandra Kurla Complex (BKC) Police have registered a case against the accused, identified as Saonapatrawala alias Lalita, following a complaint lodged by the child’s mother.
According to police officials, the incident took place on the evening of June 21, when the nanny took the child out and returned home unusually late. When questioned by the boy’s mother, the woman claimed they had been visiting the Jio Drive Mall.
The shocking revelation came to light on June 23, when the complainant received a WhatsApp message forwarded by a friend. The message, originally shared in a local community group, described a woman violently dragging and assaulting a small child outside the mall. Upon reviewing the video and related details, the mother realized that the vehicle described in the message matched her own car, confirming her worst fears.
Further inquiries revealed that the nanny not only physically assaulted the child in public but also reportedly consumed the food meant for him. The child's mother immediately contacted the police, leading to the registration of a case under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and Juvenile Justice Act.
“The incident is under detailed investigation. We are reviewing CCTV footage and collecting witness statements,” a BKC police official stated.
The case has sparked outrage on social media and renewed concerns about child safety and the background verification of domestic workers. Citizens have urged authorities to tighten nanny vetting procedures and ensure stricter monitoring mechanisms for childcare providers.
No arrests have been made at the time of reporting, but police officials confirmed that further action will be taken based on the investigation's outcome.
