Nationwide UPI Outage Disrupts Payments, NPCI Resolves Issue

 India: A technical glitch in the Unified Payments Interface (UPI) caused a nationwide outage on major digital payment platforms like Paytm, Google Pay, and PhonePe, leaving users frustrated with failed transactions. The disruption started around 7 PM, sparking complaints and memes on social media.

The National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) acknowledged the issue, attributing it to intermittent technical difficulties that led to partial transaction failures. However, NPCI later confirmed that the problem had been resolved and the system had stabilized.

Many users took to X (formerly Twitter) to express their frustration. One user joked, "UPI is down, couldn't pay the money, so the dhaba owner asked me to work!" Others used the incident to emphasize the importance of carrying cash.
