PM Modi Reaffirms Commitment on National Girl Child Day

New Delhi: On National Girl Child Day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the government’s unwavering dedication to empowering girls and fostering equality. Reiterating the pledge to provide opportunities and combat gender discrimination, the Prime Minister lauded the achievements of the girl child, highlighting their inspirational role in shaping the nation.

Posting on X, PM Modi said, “Today, on National Girl Child Day, we reiterate our commitment to keep empowering the girl child and ensure a wide range of opportunities for her. India is proud of the accomplishments of the girl child across all fields. Their feats continue to inspire us all.”

The annual observance on January 24, initiated in 2008 by the Union Ministry of Women and Child Development, aims to spotlight the rights and welfare of girls, focusing on education, health, and eradicating societal barriers. PM Modi highlighted government initiatives in education, technology, and healthcare to ensure the empowerment and well-being of girls.

Flagship programs like Beti Bachao Beti Padhao underline the government's efforts to address challenges such as declining child sex ratios, female foeticide, child marriage, and access to education and healthcare. A government press release also emphasized the importance of changing societal attitudes and fostering inclusivity.

National Girl Child Day serves as a critical reminder to value and support girls, ensuring a brighter, more equitable future. Through sustained efforts and transformative policies, the nation is working toward eliminating gender disparities and building a society where every girl can thrive.
