Red Cross Calls for Immediate Assistance in Gaza

Geneva, January 02 : The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) has called for immediate assistance in Gaza due to the deaths of infants caused by hypothermia.

Amid reports of deaths of newborns and infants related to hypothermia, the head of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies has urged for immediate humanitarian access to Gaza.

In a post, the IFRC Secretary General said, “The recent UN reports of children dying from hypothermia in Gaza underline the severity of the humanitarian crisis there. I reiterate my call for immediate humanitarian access to provide life-saving aid to those in need.”

He further said, “Without safe access, children will freeze to death. Without safe access, families will die of hunger. Without safe access, humanitarian workers cannot save lives.”

The IFRC reiterated that all measures must be taken to save civilian lives and ensure they have access to basic needs, including food, water, and medical care.
