Residents Protest Against Rashly Driven Dumpers in Mira Bhayandar

Mira Bhayandar : In a spontaneous protest on Monday, residents, especially women, from localities on Maheshwari Bhawan Road in Bhayandar (West) took to the streets to voice their concerns over the reckless driving of dumpers and the hazardous impact it has on their health and safety.
The protest was sparked by the increasing number of dumpers overloaded with sand and other construction materials, which traverse the road at high speeds throughout the day and night. Residents reported that these dumpers have not only been a constant threat to their lives but are also contributing to severe air pollution, leading to numerous health issues, particularly breathing problems.
Speaking to reporters, social activist Vikram Muthaliya expressed the frustration of the locals, stating, "Be it day or night, hundreds of dumpers ply on this road at breakneck speeds. The noise and dust are constant, and it’s becoming unbearable for the residents, especially children and the elderly."
Residents also complained of the vibrations caused by the massive dumpers, which shake their buildings each time a vehicle passes. Priya Saraogi, a local resident, added, "The dust clouds envelop the area, and the constant vibrations are damaging our homes. It feels like we are living in constant fear of a mishap. The worst part is that every time I step out of my building, either to drop my children off at school or to do other chores, I worry about my safety."
The road leads to a construction site owned by a powerful group of builders who, according to locals, have political backing. The residents allege that local politicians and former corporators have ties with the construction company, which has allowed the owners to continue operating dumpers illegally without facing any intervention from the authorities.
Despite multiple complaints from residents and a growing public outcry, the authorities have failed to take action, allegedly due to the influence of the builders and their political connections. The local administration has been accused of turning a blind eye to the illegal activities, further frustrating the already suffering residents.
The protestors are calling for immediate intervention from the authorities to curb the menace of these dumpers. They demand stricter enforcement of traffic laws, reduction of pollution levels, and better road safety measures to protect the health and well-being of the people living in this locality.
As the protest gathered momentum, the residents vowed to continue their fight until they see tangible changes and a safer environment for themselves and their families.
