Sexual Assault on Mira Road Air Hostess — Accused Arrested While Attempting to Flee to Hong Kong

Bhayander: A 25-year-old employee of a London-based airline has been arrested by the Navghar Police with the help of Sahar Airport Police, while he was preparing to flee to Hong Kong, for allegedly sexually assaulting an air hostess from Mira Road.

The 23-year-old victim works as an air hostess for a London-based airline. She filed a complaint at the Navghar Police Station in Bhayander, stating she was raped. According to her complaint, she had traveled to London on June 29 through her company and got acquainted with the accused, who was on the same flight. After their stay in London, both returned to Mumbai.

Later, the accused took her to a party and allegedly forced her to consume a large quantity of alcohol. In an intoxicated state, he took her to his residence at Mira Road in a private taxi around 2:45 AM. He then took advantage of her condition and sexually assaulted her. She stated in her complaint that she could not resist due to being intoxicated and that the accused threatened her with severe consequences if she reported the incident.

After returning from an overseas assignment, the air hostess approached the Navghar Police Station and filed a complaint. Based on her complaint, the police filed charges under Sections 64 (rape), 351(1), and 352 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (Indian Penal Code).

After the FIR was registered, the accused was planning to permanently flee to Hong Kong, where he had secured a job with another airline and had also obtained a visa. The Navghar Police, with assistance from the vigilance unit at Mumbai International Airport and Sahar Police Station, managed to arrest the accused at the airport before he could escape. The case is being investigated under the supervision of Senior Police Inspector Dheeraj Koli and PSI Sanjay Lokhandemali.
