Shocking Incident in Karnataka: Israeli Tourist and Homestay Owner Assaulted by Three Men

Bengaluru, 7 March 2025: A disturbing incident occurred in Karnataka on Thursday night, where two women, a 27-year-old Israeli tourist and a 29-year-old homestay owner, were allegedly attacked by three men while stargazing near Sanapur Lake, close to Hampi, at around 11:30 pm.
According to reports, the women, along with three other male travelers, were enjoying a peaceful evening by the Tungabhadra Left Bank Canal. The assailants, who arrived on a motorcycle, first inquired about the nearest petrol pump before demanding money from the group. When the tourists refused, the attackers reportedly overpowered the group and assaulted the women.
The three male travelers were identified as Daniel from the United States, Pankaj from Maharashtra, and Bibash from Odisha. Following the incident, Bibash went missing, and his body was discovered on Saturday morning.
The homestay owner, in her police complaint, described how she and her four guests went stargazing after dinner. The attackers allegedly began by asking for Rs 100, and when their demand was refused, they became violent. After committing the assault, the accused fled the scene.
The women are receiving medical treatment at a government hospital. The police have registered a case under various sections of the Indian Penal Code, including theft, extortion, and other serious charges. A manhunt has been initiated to capture the accused, and the investigation is ongoing.
This incident has raised concerns about the safety of tourists in the area. Authorities are under pressure to take swift action and ensure justice for the victims.
