Shreyas Iyer Shines as India Dominates England in Thrilling ODI Victory

New Delhi : In a commanding performance in the third ODI at Ahmedabad, India posted a mammoth total of 356 runs, with Shreyas Iyer’s explosive innings bolstering India’s middle order ahead of the Champions Trophy. The match saw England’s chase falter early, despite a strong start from Ben Duckett. India’s bowlers, particularly Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav, responded to captain Rohit Sharma's tactical guidance, applying pressure and taking key wickets, leaving England at 161/6 by the 27th over.

India’s batting, led by Shubman Gill's composed century, was equally impressive. Though Rohit Sharma fell early, Gill and Virat Kohli steadied the ship, before Iyer unleashed a counterattacking assault, hammering the England bowlers with remarkable finesse. His short-pitched ball handling showed improvement, with a series of stunning pulls and drives, putting India in a dominant position.

Despite a late surge from Adil Rashid and a few wickets in the middle overs, Iyer’s 50 and timely contributions from Hardik Pandya ensured India’s total remained unassailable. The victory, by 195 runs, was a testament to India’s balanced play, as they aim to strengthen their squad for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
