"Stree 2" Box Office Triumph: Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's Horror-Comedy Nears ₹200 Crore Mark

(Mumbai)The much-anticipated sequel to the 2018 horror-comedy hit, "Stree," is proving to be a major success at the Indian box office. The latest figures for "Stree 2" reveal that the film has continued its strong performance, with its fourth day collections significantly bolstering its total earnings. Directed by Amar Kaushik and featuring leads Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, the film has achieved an impressive ₹55 crore nett in India on Sunday, as reported by Sacnilk.com. This marks the film's second highest single-day collection to date.
With these figures, "Stree 2" has accumulated an estimated ₹190.55 crore nett in just four days. The film's robust showing reflects a healthy 70.41% Hindi occupancy rate on Sunday, with Bengaluru standing out with a remarkable 84% turnout. Released on August 15 to coincide with Independence Day, the sequel has swiftly gained traction, building on the success of its predecessor.
The film’s strong performance is underscored by a social media post from the production house, which proudly declared the film the "UNDISPUTED STREE of the box office!" The post also highlighted the net domestic collection of ₹145.8 crore at the end of the first three days, acknowledging the audience's support for the film.
"Stree 2" continues the story from the original, wherein the protagonists, who previously resolved the mystery of a vengeful female ghost, now confront a new supernatural threat in the form of a disembodied head known as Sarkata. The film extends the narrative of the horror-comedy universe created by producer Dinesh Vijan, which also includes popular titles like "Bhediya" and "Munjya."
The sequel also features performances from Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana, adding to the film’s ensemble appeal. As "Stree 2" heads towards the ₹200 crore mark, it solidifies its position as a significant player in the ongoing trend of successful horror-comedies in Indian cinema.
