Students Protest in Prayagraj as UP Takes Time to Decide on Job Exam Issue

Prayagraj: The announcement comes after a prolonged period of uncertainty that has sparked outrage among students, particularly in Prayagraj, who have been demanding a clear and fair approach to the exam scheduling. The decision, made during a high-level meeting of the UPPSC, aims to resolve concerns regarding the lengthy duration of the exam, which was initially planned to be held over multiple days. While the move has been seen as a partial concession to student demands, protesters continue to voice concerns about the transparency and fairness of the entire recruitment process.

In addition to the revised format for the PCS prelims, the UPPSC has also decided to form a special committee to assess how the recruitment process for Review Officers (ROs) and Assistant Review Officers (AROs) can be streamlined and made more efficient. This follows criticism from both students and opposition parties, who have accused the state government of mismanagement in handling the recruitment exams, especially after multiple delays and the ongoing protests in Prayagraj.

The student groups have voiced concerns that unless a comprehensive review of the entire recruitment process is undertaken, including ensuring strict monitoring and security measures, the risk of malpractices will persist. Some students also said that it is only a verbal announcement so far and they won't stop the protest till an official notification for both exams is put out. "We want both exams in a a single shift. Why are you setting up a committee? They basically want the protesters to go away. They want to weaken the agitation, but we are not moving from here," a protester said. While some students have expressed cautious optimism that their concerns might finally be heard, the protests show no sign of waning. The UPPSC has appealed for patience, but with the continued unrest, it remains to be seen how the situation will evolve in the coming days.
