Thane Police Officer Dies After Falling from Train in Kalyan

Mumbai : A tragic incident occurred on Friday at Kalyan railway station, where police officer Dattaray Lokhande fell from a train and died. Lokhande, stationed at the Railway Police Headquarters in Ghatkopar, was on his way to work when the accident happened around 10:50 am on Platform No. 7. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene. Lokhande, a resident of Kalyan East, is survived by his wife and two children.

A preliminary investigation by the Kalyan Railway Police has been initiated, and his body has been sent for post-mortem. However, the absence of CCTV cameras at the precise location of the fall has made it difficult to determine the exact cause of the incident.

Lokhande had been under significant stress following a controversial transfer after accusations of mishandling a case involving a train assault over false beef allegations. A viral video of the assault had led to public outrage, and an inquiry into his actions was ongoing at the time of his death. Authorities are investigating whether the stress from the inquiry contributed to the tragedy.
