The Last Words of a Bakery Owner: Financial Strain, Divorce, and the Untold Pressure

Delhi: A heartbreaking 59-minute video by Puneet Khurana, a 40-year-old bakery owner in Delhi, has gone viral following his tragic death by suicide. In the emotional clip, recorded just before his death at his Model Town home on Tuesday, Khurana accuses his estranged wife, Manika Pahwa, and her family of subjecting him to unbearable mental torment.

Khurana, co-owner of the popular bakery For God's Cake, speaks in the video about the immense financial burden he faced, particularly a demand of an additional ₹10 lakh from his wife and her family, which he claimed he had no means of paying. "I don’t have the capacity to pay off this ₹10 lakh they are asking for," he says, adding that his parents had already exhausted their resources in supporting him.

This incident follows a contentious mutual divorce between Khurana and Pahwa, during which Khurana alleges his in-laws pressurized him to fulfill conditions that far exceeded his financial abilities. Additionally, Khurana mentions the broken promise of a ₹2 crore house transfer that further contributed to the unbearable stress he faced. In the video, he also recalls discussions with his father-in-law, Jagdish Pahwa, about the house transfer, which Khurana claimed was reneged upon.

Khurrana’s family believes these disputes, combined with ongoing financial pressure, pushed him to take this tragic step. They allege Khurana was often subjected to threats by his wife’s family, worsening his already fragile mental state.

The tragic incident sheds light on the complex and painful dynamics within marital and financial disputes, where unbearable emotional and financial stress can lead to irreversible outcomes.
