Thieves Steal Manhole Covers Worth ₹70K in Bandra, Khar; Arrested in Vile Parle East

Bandra, Khar, Vile Parle East: In a daring theft, three individuals, including a woman, were arrested for stealing 14 manhole covers from the Bandra and Khar areas in Mumbai. The stolen covers, valued at ₹70,000, were taken on January 21 from locations including Linking Road, Khar West, and SV Road. The theft was reported by Madhav Ramchandra Sarke, a BMC supervisor, prompting an investigation by the Khar police.
Through CCTV footage and tips, the police tracked the suspects, identifying them as Sahadev Logen Singh (20), Bhanu Chelamuthu Devendra (36), and Kasturi Bablu Devendra (32), all labourers from Nehru Nagar, Vile Parle East. Four stolen covers have been recovered so far, and authorities are investigating where the remaining items were sold.
The accused have been charged under Section 303 (2), a non-cognizable offence related to theft. Further investigations are ongoing to locate the rest of the stolen goods.
