Tragic Gas Leak in Maharashtra Fertiliser Plant Claims Three Lives, Injures Nine

Sangli, Maharashtra : A devastating incident at the Myanmar Chemical Company in Shalgaon MIDC, Kadegaon tehsil, claimed three lives and left nine others injured after a reactor explosion led to a hazardous gas leak on Thursday evening.
The tragedy unfolded around 6:30 PM, releasing toxic fumes suspected to be ammonia, affecting 12 individuals working at the plant. Despite swift medical intervention, two women workers, identified as Suchita Uthale (50) from Yetgaon and Neelam Rethrekar (26) from Masur, along with a security guard, succumbed to the exposure.
Seven of the injured are undergoing treatment at Sahyadri Hospital in Karad, with five reported to be in critical condition.
Authorities, including the Sangli Superintendent of Police Sandip Ghuge, are investigating the cause of the reactor explosion. This incident highlights the urgent need for stringent safety measures in industrial operations to prevent such catastrophic accidents.
