Tragic Loss in Mulund: Student Crushed by Truck in Heartbreaking Incident

MULUND WEST: A standard 12 student from VG Vaze (Kelkar) College was tragically crushed to death after being struck by a truck on Thursday in the Amar Nagar area of Mulund West. The victim, identified as 20-year-old Shalu Rohitkumar Yadav, was making her routine trip to deliver lunch to her uncle when the accident occurred.

Shalu, who resided with her parents and two siblings in Amar Nagar, was a hardworking student who had achieved excellent marks in her Std X exams, helping her secure a place at Kelkar College. On that fateful day, Shalu was crossing the Shriram Pada service road at around 11:15 am when a speeding truck hit her with fatal impact. Locals quickly restrained the driver, 30-year-old Mohammad Zakir Mohammad Shabir Khan, and handed him over to the police.

According to Khan, a driver from Surat, his truck's air brakes malfunctioned while descending a steep road in Mulund, causing him to lose control and fatally hit Shalu. Despite the truck’s issues, authorities are investigating the circumstances around his claim, with further checks on the vehicle's condition by the RTO.

Shalu was declared dead on arrival at the hospital after being struck. The Mulund Police initially filed an accidental death report (ADR), which later turned into a formal FIR against Khan as investigations continue.
