Virat Kohli Frustrated After Unusual Dismissal Against New Zealand, Falls for Just 1 Run

In the ongoing Test series against New Zealand, Virat Kohli's rough patch continued as he was bowled out for a single run off 9 balls during the second Test in Pune. Kohli, who came in after Shubman Gill’s dismissal, faced a tricky delivery from Mitchell Santner. Attempting to sweep a fuller ball, Kohli misjudged the shot, leaving a gap between bat and pad, which allowed the ball to break through and hit the stumps. Kohli appeared visibly frustrated and disappointed as he walked back to the pavilion.
Kohli’s struggles against spin have been apparent, especially in Asia. Since 2021, in 26 innings, he has scored 606 runs with an average of 28.85, getting out 21 times to spinners. His once-formidable record has taken a dip, as seen in his ICC Test rankings where he was recently surpassed by Rishabh Pant.
India’s bowling saw standout performances, with Washington Sundar taking 7 wickets and Ravichandran Ashwin adding 3 to restrict New Zealand to 259 runs in their first innings. Even India’s skipper, Rohit Sharma, couldn’t make a mark, dismissed for a duck on his ninth ball.
