Western Railway to Run Three Festival Special Trains for Durga Puja, Diwali & Chhath Puja

Mumbai, 3rd September 2025: In anticipation of heavy passenger rush during the upcoming festive season, the Western Railway has announced three pairs of Festival Special trains on special fares. These trains are being introduced to facilitate smooth travel during Durga Puja, Diwali, and Chhath Puja festivals. As per a press release issued by Shri Vineet Abhishek, Chief Public Relations Officer of Western Railway, the special trains will operate between Bandra Terminus – Bhagat Ki Kothi, Udhna – Mau, and Udhna – Chhapra, connecting western India with key destinations in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, and Bihar.

The Bandra Terminus – Bhagat Ki Kothi Weekly Special (Train Nos. 04828/04827) will run 28 trips in total. Train No. 04828 will depart Bandra Terminus every Sunday at 10:30 a.m. and reach Bhagat Ki Kothi the next day at 4:30 a.m., starting from 28th September to 28th December 2025. In the reverse direction, Train No. 04827 will depart Bhagat Ki Kothi every Saturday at 11:30 a.m. and reach Bandra Terminus the next day at 7:25 a.m., from 27th September to 27th December 2025. The train will halt at important stations including Borivali, Vapi, Surat, Bharuch, Vadodara, Abu Road, and Marwar Junction. It will have coaches in AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier (including economy), Sleeper, and General Second Class.

To meet travel demand to eastern Uttar Pradesh, the Udhna – Mau Weekly Special (Train Nos. 05018/05017) will run 12 trips. Train No. 05018 will depart Udhna every Sunday at 3:00 p.m. and arrive at Mau the next day at 10:30 p.m., operating from 28th September to 2nd November 2025. In return, Train No. 05017 will depart Mau every Saturday at 5:30 a.m. and reach Udhna the next day at noon, between 27th September and 1st November 2025. This train will pass through key junctions like Vadodara, Ratlam, Agra, Kanpur, Lucknow, Gorakhpur, and Deoria, and will include AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper, and General class coaches.

In addition, the Udhna – Chhapra Weekly Special (Train Nos. 05116/05115) will operate 20 trips for passengers heading to Bihar. Train No. 05116 will depart Udhna every Sunday at 10:00 a.m. and reach Chhapra at 11:00 p.m. the next day, from 28th September to 30th November 2025. The return service, Train No. 05115, will leave Chhapra every Friday at 5:45 p.m. and reach Udhna at 7:00 a.m. on Sunday, running from 26th September to 28th November 2025. This train will provide connectivity through major cities including Surat, Vadodara, Ujjain, Katni, Prayagraj Chheoki, Varanasi, and Ballia, and will include AC 2-Tier, AC 3-Tier, Sleeper, and General coaches.

The booking for Train No. 04828 will begin on 6th September 2025, while bookings for Train Nos. 05018 and 05116 will open on 5th September 2025 at all PRS counters and through the IRCTC website. Passengers are advised to check the Indian Railways website www.enquiry.indianrail.gov.in for exact timings and composition.
