24-Year-Old Man Drowns During Ganesh Immersion in Virar

Virar:A tragic incident occurred during the Ganesh immersion ceremony in Virar on Wednesday morning, resulting in the drowning of a 24-year-old man. The incident has cast a shadow of grief over the family of the deceased. Police have sent the body for post-mortem.

According to reports, the deceased, Amit Satish Mohite, a resident of Narayan Nagar in Phulpada, Virar East, had gone to the Totale Lake in front of the Virar East Police Station late Tuesday night for the immersion of a community Ganpati idol. The incident took place around 3:30 AM on Wednesday during the immersion process when Amit accidentally fell into the lake and drowned. Despite the presence of local people and police at the scene, he could not be saved. 

Amit’s body was retrieved with the help of police and locals and was sent for post-mortem. His brother alleged that no one came forward to help when Amit was drowning, suggesting that his life might have been saved if someone had intervened. The police are currently investigating the matter under the ADR (Accidental Death Report).
