Air India will expand its global presence in the coming years: Campbell Wilson

New Delhi, January 1 : Air India's global presence is set to increase in the coming years. The airline's Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director (MD) Campbell Wilson made this announcement on Wednesday while revealing the company's ambitious expansion plans.

Air India chief Campbell Wilson highlighted the airline's commitment to strengthening its fleet and infrastructure, ensuring a strong future for Indian aviation. He mentioned that since privatization, the company has made significant progress, and its global reach will increase in the coming years.

Wilson stated that work is ongoing to refurbish the narrow-body fleet serving domestic and short-haul international destinations. This will be completed by mid-2025. He also mentioned that Air India's global coverage will expand in the coming years, as the airline recently added 100 aircraft to its order book, further increasing the commitment made in 2023 for 470 aircraft.

Wilson said that these new aircraft will be supported by a brand-new 12-bay maintenance facility and training school in Bengaluru, a new 34-aircraft flight school in Amaravati, and the aforementioned training academy in Gurugram. This highlights Air India's commitment not only to its airline but also to strengthening India's aviation ecosystem.

Wilson noted that January 2025 will be a significant milestone in Air India's journey. The airline will be celebrating the third anniversary of its return to the Tata Group. At the same time, the airline is in the midst of its ambitious five-year Vihaan AI transformation program, aimed at establishing Air India as a world-class global carrier with a distinctive Indian identity.
