Second round of ministerial meeting between India and Singapore today

New Delhi:The second round of ministerial meeting between India and Singapore will be held in Singapore today. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Railway, Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnav will participate from India's side in the meeting. All four will hold talks with their counterparts. They will also meet the leadership of Singapore. Information about this meeting was shared by the Ministry of External Affairs on Saturday.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs, in the meeting, both sides will review various aspects of their strategic partnership and find ways to take it forward. It is believed that this round table meeting will lay the ground for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's proposed visit to Singapore next month. A new agenda for India-Singapore bilateral relations can be set in the meeting. The first round table meeting was held in New Delhi in September 2022.

It is worth noting that the relationship between India and Singapore is already very strong. Both countries are also members of several global forums such as the East Asia Summit, G-20, Commonwealth, Indian Ocean Rim Association and Indian Ocean Naval Symposium. India and Singapore have demonstrated a convergence of views on several international issues. Not only this, there are more than 20 bilateral mechanisms between the two countries. Apart from this, military exercises also take place between India-Singapore. Also among the ASEAN countries, India has a very special relationship with Singapore, which is often called the little red dot just north of the equator. This relationship is deepened by trade and the Tamil diaspora establishing a vibrant bridge with India.
