Ashwinikumar Supra Arrested for Threatening to Blow Up Mumbai With 34 Human Bombs, 400 Kg RDX Ahead of Ganpati Visarjan

Mumbai, 6 September 2025: In a major breakthrough ahead of Ganesh Visarjan, the Mumbai Crime Branch has arrested 50-year-old Ashwinikumar Sureshkumar Supra from Noida, Uttar Pradesh, for allegedly threatening to carry out a massive terror attack in Mumbai using 34 human bombs and 400 kilograms of RDX.

On September 4 at 2:57 PM, a WhatsApp message was received on the government-issued number of the Mumbai Traffic Control Room in Worli. The message claimed that Mumbai would be rocked by a large-scale terror attack involving human bombs and high explosives. With Ganpati Visarjan drawing massive crowds, the message triggered immediate alarm in security agencies.

Taking the threat seriously, the Mumbai Crime Branch launched a technical and intelligence-based investigation. Within hours, they traced the location of the sender to Noida. With assistance from the Gautam Buddh Nagar Police, Ashwinikumar Supra was taken into custody. The mobile phone used to send the threat has also been seized.

A case has been registered at Worli Police Station under Sections 196(1)(A)(B), 351(2), and 351(3) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).

Police officials stated that any attempt to disrupt public peace, especially during a high-alert festival like Ganeshotsav, will be dealt with strictly. Security across Mumbai has been heightened, with special monitoring at key immersion spots.
