Speeding Car Crushes Parking Attendant to Death in BKC

BMC Parking Lot, BKC, Mumbai: A tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening when a speeding car struck a 44-year-old parking lot attendant, causing fatal injuries. The victim, identified as Shukla, was employed at a Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) parking facility near the Insignia building, located in the MMRDA area of Mumbai's BKC.
According to police reports, the incident took place around 7:45 pm when a red Maruti Swift, driven by 34-year-old Prabodhan Vinayan Bedekar, slammed into Shukla, pinning him against a wall. Shukla suffered severe injuries to his stomach and chest and was rushed to Guru Nanak Hospital by bystanders. Unfortunately, he was declared dead upon arrival.
Bedekar, a resident of Worli, accompanied Shukla to the hospital but was later arrested by BKC police under charges of negligent driving and causing death. CCTV footage captured the entire incident, showing that the car was speeding when the crash occurred. While Bedekar claimed that a brake failure led to the accident, investigations are ongoing to confirm the cause.
The police have booked Bedekar under Sections 304 (A) (Causing Death by Negligence), 279 (Rash Driving), and 337 (Causing Hurt by an Act Endangering Safety) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
