Bangladesh HC to Hear Petition Seeking Ban on ISKCON Amid Violence Against Hindus

In a concerning development, a petition has been filed in the Bangladesh High Court seeking a ban on the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) amidst rising violence against Hindus in the country. The petition also calls for the imposition of a state of emergency in Chittagong and Rangpur to prevent further unrest following protests that have rocked these cities.

The High Court, which has expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation, has requested the government to provide a report on the actions taken regarding ISKCON and related issues. This follows a surge in attacks against the Hindu community in Bangladesh in recent months, under the administration of Prime Minister Yunus.

The protests intensified after the arrest of monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu, who faced sedition charges for his vocal criticism of the government’s handling of atrocities against Hindus. His arrest on November 25 led to widespread protests, particularly in Chittagong, where a lawyer was allegedly killed in the violence.

In response, India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has expressed concern over the violence and urged the Bangladeshi authorities to ensure the safety and security of Hindus and other minorities, emphasizing their right to peaceful assembly and expression.

As tensions rise, the world watches closely to see how the Bangladeshi government will handle the situation to avoid further escalation.
