Bengali Singer Lagnajita Chakraborty Accuses Rajesh Roshan of Sexual Harassment in Mumbai

Mumbai: Renowned Bengali playback singer Lagnajita Chakraborty has accused veteran Bollywood music composer Rajesh Roshan of sexually harassing her several years ago at his Santacruz residence in Mumbai. Chakraborty, known for her song Basanto Eshe Geche from the film Chotushkone, shared her experience during an interview on the podcast Straight Up With Shree.
Recalling the incident, Chakraborty said she was called to Roshan’s home for work. “I was in his music room when he sat next to me. While I was showing him my work on an iPad, he slipped his hand inside my skirt, as if it was nothing. Shocked, I stood up and left immediately,” she said.
Chakraborty added that she chose not to publicize the incident at the time, stating, “It was his problem and mistake. It was not my fault.” She also revealed that the casting couch culture extends beyond Bollywood into the music industry, citing similar experiences with other prominent personalities but refraining from naming them to avoid creating public outrage.
As of now, Rajesh Roshan has not commented on the allegations.
The singer's revelation has reignited discussions about harassment and power dynamics within the entertainment industry.
