Uber Launches Women-Only Bike Rides in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: Ride-hailing giant Uber has introduced ‘Uber Moto Women,’ a women-only two-wheeler service in Bengaluru, aimed at enhancing safety and mobility for female riders while empowering female drivers with flexible earning opportunities.
Developed based on feedback from women riders and drivers, the service connects female riders with female drivers, offering a safe, affordable, and convenient commute option. The service will be available in major parts of Bengaluru starting today.
Abhishek Padhye, Head of Regional Business Operations at Uber India and South Asia, emphasized, "With Uber Moto Women, we’re providing a safer, more convenient ride option for women while enabling female drivers to earn flexibly in a growing mobility segment. Bengaluru, known for its innovative approach, is the perfect launchpad for this initiative."
The service includes enhanced safety features, such as real-time trip tracking, number anonymization, and Uber’s proactive safety technology, RideCheck, which monitors irregularities during rides. Women riders and drivers can also access Uber’s 24x7 Safety Helpline.
Uber hopes the initiative will boost female participation in the ride-hailing sector, with features such as short-distance trips, flexible working hours, and the ability for drivers to toggle off the female-only setting when needed.
