Bhayandar Metro Faces Land Issues for Kashigaon Station, Project Delayed

Bhayandar: The construction of the Kashigaon station for the Mira Bhayandar Metro-9 is facing significant challenges due to land acquisition issues. This has caused a loss of ₹77 crore to the government over the past two years, raising concerns that the project may be delayed beyond its expected December deadline. The Dahisar-Bhayandar Metro-9 has been under construction for the past five years, with 87% of the structural work completed. However, the construction of the staircase for Kashigaon station has been stalled due to land issues. The land in question belongs to the Seven Eleven company and is reserved for a service road as per the development plan. The municipality attempted to acquire the land through TDR in 2022, but the company’s opposition has caused further delays. MMRDA revised the plan to relocate the station’s staircase over a nearby drain, but Seven Eleven has now claimed ownership of that land as well, leading to further obstruction. MLA Geeta Jain has alleged that the government is incurring a monthly loss of ₹3.5 crore, amounting to ₹77 crore so far, due to this land dispute. Seven Eleven company, in response, has released a statement accusing the administration of not providing adequate compensation.

Conflict Between Former and Current MLAs:

Seven Eleven company is owned by the family of former MLA Narendra Mehta. Current MLA Geeta Jain has accused Mehta of delaying the project. However, Mehta has refuted these claims, stating that the company is ready to give the land, but the municipality is not providing proper compensation.
