BJP to Announce Delhi CM on February 19; Swearing-In on February 20

New Delhi, India: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to announce Delhi’s new Chief Minister on February 19 following a party legislature meeting, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for February 20, according to sources.

After winning 48 out of 70 seats in the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP has shortlisted 15 names, from which nine will be selected for key positions, including the Chief Minister, state cabinet ministers, and the Speaker.

Among the frontrunners for the CM post is Parvesh Verma, who gained prominence after defeating AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat. Other key contenders include former Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta, senior leader Satish Upadhyay, Delhi BJP General Secretary Ashish Sood, and Jitendra Mahajan, who has strong ties with the RSS.

This marks BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years, while the AAP secured only 22 seats, with prominent leaders Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and Saurabh Bharadwaj losing their seats.
