BJP's Parvesh Verma Accuses AAP of Alleged Security Threat in Delhi Amid Election Campaign

New Delhi: In a fresh controversy ahead of Delhi's assembly elections, BJP candidate Parvesh Verma has raised concerns about the presence of Punjab ministers and their alleged involvement in installing Chinese CCTV cameras in Delhi.

Verma, who is contesting against AAP's Arvind Kejriwal in the New Delhi seat, claimed that thousands of vehicles with Punjab registration numbers have flooded the capital. He speculated that the influx might pose a security risk, especially with Republic Day celebrations approaching. "What is the purpose of these people coming here and who are they transporting?" Verma questioned, highlighting the proximity to India Gate.

In a bold move, he filed a complaint with both the Election Commission and local police, accusing AAP supporters of deploying Punjab government employees to install Chinese-made CCTV cameras in certain areas. Verma further claimed that individuals involved confessed that the installation was orchestrated by AAP.

Punjab's Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, however, brushed off the allegations while addressing a rally in Delhi, expressing confidence in the party’s support. He emphasized that AAP had kept its promises in Punjab and continued to win the trust of the people.

The capital is gearing up for its crucial elections on February 5, with vote counting scheduled for February 8.
