Blind IIM Student’s Struggle for a Job: ‘I’m Exhausted, I Have Student Loans’

Tiruchirappalli, India: Despite his qualifications, skills, and an MBA from IIM Tiruchirappalli, Amey Tiwari remains unplaced as his course nears completion. The reason, he believes, is clear—his blindness.
In a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Tiwari shared his frustration, stating, “I did everything right. Yet, here I am—unplaced.” A law graduate from Delhi University, he called out major corporations for their reluctance to hire visually impaired candidates despite promoting inclusivity.
“Companies celebrate ‘diversity’ and ‘inclusion’ in theory but hesitate when it comes to actual hiring,” Tiwari wrote, expressing his disappointment over the bias against differently-abled professionals.
With student loans adding to his worries, he hopes for real change in corporate hiring policies. His story is a stark reminder of the gap between inclusive rhetoric and action.
