Cyber Attack on Uttarakhand's Government System, 186 Websites Hacked Including CM Helpline

Dehradun : A major cyber attack has shaken the government system in Uttarakhand. As a result of the attack, the entire IT system of the state was down for 72 hours, affecting government operations significantly. Several important websites and services, including the CM Helpline, land registry, and e-office, were completely shut down. Work in various departments, including the secretariat, also came to a standstill. According to the IT Development Agency (ITDA), there was no loss incurred. Currently, the state data center is closed, and a scanning process for the websites will be conducted.
Experts have indicated that the cyber attack was so severe that not only the secure internet service provider UK Swan, but also the critical state data center was impacted. One by one, government websites began shutting down rapidly. The impact was felt across all 186 websites, which were rendered completely non-functional. Some websites have been restored, while the IT department is still working to secure the others.
A team of experts from the IT Development Agency is making every effort to recover from the cyber attack. ITDA Director Nitika Khandelwal stated that further work is required based on the central government's guidelines and security protocols. She assured that everything has been recovered and no damage has occurred. She also mentioned that all websites will be fully operational only after the entire security system has been checked. The data center has been shut down, and each of the 186 websites will be scanned one by one before they are reopened.
