BMC Takes Action Against Illegal Waste Dumping from Khar to Sakinaka: ₹10,000 Fine Imposed on ‘The Gaurav Caterers’

Mumbai, August 1, 2025: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has taken strict action against The Gaurav Caterers, based in Khar, for illegally dumping bulk waste near the Mithi River area in Sakinaka. A fine of ₹10,000 was imposed by the L Ward team on July 31, 2025.
This penalty was enforced under the Brihanmumbai Sanitation and Health Bye-laws, 2006, citing improper disposal of hazardous waste and failure to maintain cleanliness in the premises.
Following orders from Additional Municipal Commissioner (City) Dr. Ashwini Joshi, this action forms part of a broader crackdown initiated since June 12, 2025. As part of this campaign, seven establishments have so far been fined a total of ₹65,000.
Other penalized entities include IDFC Bank (Thane), Ashok Towers Housing Society (Marol), HDFC Bank (Vikhroli), Taximan and Simran Housing Society (Kurla), Godavari Housing Society (Brahmanwadi), and Imtiaz Line Depot.
BMC has reiterated that strict measures will continue against bulk waste generators violating proper disposal norms.
