Mumbai: The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has announced plans to establish a solid waste control room to enhance the monitoring and management of waste across Mumbai. This initiative aims to streamline the city's waste management processes and curb the illegal dumping of debris in various parts of the metropolis. In recent years, Mumbai has witnessed several cases of unauthorized dumping of construction debris, often going undetected until much later. The proposed control room will play a pivotal role in addressing this issue by ensuring real-time tracking of solid waste movement from both formal and informal localities to designated landfills.
A senior BMC official stated, "The vehicles, through the proposed control room, are aimed to be tracked live for their movement, and in case of any discrepancies found, action can be taken." This state-of-the-art facility is expected to not only monitor waste transport vehicles but also ensure that offenders are identified and penalized promptly, thereby promoting a cleaner and more sustainable Mumbai.
