Bol Bachchan Gang Targeting Seniors in Mumbai: Two Arrested with Stolen Gold

Khar, Mumbai: In a major breakthrough, the Khar Police on Tuesday arrested two members of the notorious Bol Bachchan Gang, who were involved in targeting senior citizens across Mumbai and Maharashtra. The two arrested suspects, identified as Arjun Bapunath Kale (24) and Balaji Rohidas Pawar (20), residents of Gangakhed in Parbhani, were wanted in over 50 cases across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region.
The gang lured unsuspecting senior citizens with fake offers of free cash, sarees, and ration. Using an elaborate ruse, they convinced victims to remove their gold jewellery for a staged photo-op before disappearing with the stolen valuables. In this instance, the gang targeted Salma Gulamnabi Qureshi, 73, on November 27 in Khar Danda, who fell victim to their deception and lost her gold chain and earrings.
A major operation ensued after Qureshi filed a complaint, with the police reviewing over 350 CCTV camera feeds to trace the suspects. The accused frequently altered their routes, clothing, and vehicles to evade detection, making the investigation more challenging. However, diligent work led authorities to pinpoint their temporary residences and set up a trap to apprehend them at Western Railway Colony, Khar West.
During interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in this series of thefts. The police also recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 1.31 lakh from them.
