Mumbai 07 February 2026 :

Mumbai’s suburban railway network is set to face significant disruption on Sunday, February 8, as Central and Western Railways carry out scheduled maintenance work across multiple routes. The planned mega and jumbo blocks, essential for track, signalling and overhead equipment repairs, will affect services on the Central, Harbour and Western lines, leading to cancellations, diversions and delays throughout the day.

Railway authorities have cautioned commuters to plan their journeys carefully and check updated local train schedules before stepping out, as several key sections will be impacted during peak daytime hours.

Jumbo Block on Western Railway

On the Western line, a five-hour jumbo block has been announced between Santacruz and Goregaon stations. The block will be in effect from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm on both the Up and Down slow lines. During this period, all slow local services will be diverted to the fast lines.

As the fast lines do not have platforms at Vile Parle and Ram Mandir stations, trains will not halt at these stations while the block is in force. Passengers travelling to or from these stations have been advised to use Harbour line services or make alternative travel arrangements.

The Western Railway has also warned that due to the diversion and maintenance activity, several local trains may be cancelled or run behind schedule. Commuters are urged to keep extra travel time in hand and stay alert for official updates.

With maintenance work planned across multiple corridors, Sunday travel for Mumbai’s local train passengers is expected to be slower than usual, making advance planning crucial for a smoother journey.
