Fake Note Racket Busted in Mumbai: Byculla Police Arrests Four, Seizes Equipment

Byculla,CentralMumbai: The Byculla Police have successfully dismantled a gang involved in printing and selling counterfeit Indian currency notes. Acting on a tip-off, the police arrested four individuals and seized 200 fake ₹500 notes along with equipment used for their production.
The operation, led by Senior Inspector Chimaji Adhav and his team, was initiated after receiving information about three suspects attempting to sell fake currency in the Byculla area. A swift trap was laid, leading to the detention of three suspects: Umran Balbale (48), Yasin Shaikh (42), and Bheem Badela (45).
Interrogation of the trio revealed the involvement of a fourth suspect, Niraj Vekhande (25), from Wada in Palghar district. After two days of investigation, a police team apprehended Vekhande and discovered equipment such as laptops, printers, and lamination machines at his premises.
An FIR has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), and further investigations are underway. The raid underscores the commitment of Mumbai Police to tackle economic offenses under the leadership of officers like Inspector Jitesh Shingote.
