Palm Beach Tragedy: Two Young Women Killed in Hit-and-Run by Speeding Skoda

Navi Mumbai: Two young women, Sanskruti Khokale (22) from Kamothe and Anjali Pandey (19) from Koparkhairane, lost their lives in a hit-and-run accident on Palm Beach Road early Sunday morning. The incident occurred as a speeding Skoda car collided with their scooter near Kopra Bridge, sending shockwaves through the community.
Both victims were returning home after a night shift at a Turbhe-based BPO. They were colleagues at Expert Source, working in a US-based process. Tragically, Khokale, who often dropped Pandey home before heading to Kamothe, succumbed to her injuries en route to the hospital. Pandey passed away during treatment shortly after.
“The Skoda driver fled the scene immediately after the accident. We have registered a case and are analyzing CCTV footage to trace the car’s registration and identify the owner,” said senior police inspector Ajay Shinde of APMC police station.
Family members and colleagues expressed their grief, demanding justice for the victims. Khokale’s Yamaha Fascino scooter was a lifeline for her daily commute between Kamothe and Turbhe. Pandey, the youngest in her family, lived with her parents and two elder sisters, while Khokale leaves behind a younger brother and an elder sister.
Police have charged the unidentified driver under the Motor Vehicle Act for reckless and negligent driving leading to death.
The tragic incident is a grim reminder of the perils of reckless driving and the urgent need for road safety awareness.
