Woman Dies After Falling Into Metro Construction Pit in Andheri

Mumbai:A woman died after falling into a pit dug for metro construction in the Sipz area of Andheri East. The team from Andheri MIDC police station is conducting a thorough investigation into the matter.

According to the police, around 9:30 PM on Wednesday, a woman was crossing the road in front of the Sipz company when she fell into the pit and was swept away by the flowing water for about a hundred meters. Upon receiving information about the incident, firefighters managed to pull the woman out of the pit late at night and rushed her to Cooper Hospital for treatment, but she died during the course of treatment. The deceased has been identified as Vimla Anil Gaikwad (45 years old). Currently, the MIDC police station team has registered a case on Thursday morning and is investigating the incident.
