Chief Minister Asks MPs and Legislators to Submit Proposals for Roads in 15 Days

Lucknow: In a bid to ensure excellent road connectivity from villages to every gram panchayat, town area, city, and metropolitan area, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has gone into 'mission mode.' He has instructed all MPs and legislators to prepare proposals for the construction of new roads, bypasses, or bridges and the repair of old ones within the next 15 days.

During a video conference with public representatives on Tuesday, the Chief Minister emphasized the need for good roads in every district, whether in rural or urban areas, and stated that MPs and legislators must also put in efforts. He mentioned that there is no shortage of funds for roads. Therefore, all public representatives should discuss with their district in-charge ministers and the core committee to prepare proposals in collaboration with the district administration. He urged them to submit proposals for any new roads required, repairs of old roads, bridge construction, ring roads/bypasses, major/other district roads, or service lanes. He assured that immediate decisions would be taken at the government level. He also stated that even if a hamlet has a population of only 250, there should be access to a proper road.

The Chief Minister highlighted that public representatives from districts without bypasses should prepare proposals as necessary. He also mentioned that adequate budget provisions have been made for improving connectivity to areas of religious, spiritual, historical, or mythological significance. The widening and strengthening of roads in such areas are essential to promote tourism. Furthermore, he stated that better connectivity is required in industrial/logistics parks and sugar mill regions. If any tehsil or block headquarters are not connected by a two-lane road, immediate notification should be provided.

He mentioned that efforts are ongoing to enhance interstate and international connectivity, including the preparation of 'Friendship Gates' at border points. Public representatives should also submit proposals regarding this. In the meeting, the Chief Minister directed that the ongoing state-wide road repair and pothole elimination campaign should be completed by October 10. He instructed to take action against overloaded heavy vehicles at 'zero points' and advised that inspections should be carried out at the starting points of vehicle movement rather than disrupting general traffic on the road. Administrative officials from all zones, divisions, ranges, and districts were also present in the meeting.
