Clash Expected in Rawalpindi Today, Section 144 Imposed Ahead of PTI Rally

Rawalpindi:Tensions are rising in Rawalpindi as clashes are anticipated between the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, led by ousted Prime Minister Imran Khan, and the police. The Punjab government has imposed Section 144 in the city ahead of the PTI rally.

According to ARY News, the Punjab government has prohibited all forms of gatherings, rallies, protests, and weapon displays under Section 144 in anticipation of the rally scheduled for Saturday. This ban will be effective on September 28 and 29. Section 144 has also been imposed in the districts of Attock, Jhelum, and Chakwal.

Meanwhile, PTI has called on its supporters to gather at Liaquat Bagh. Umar Ayub, the opposition leader in the National Assembly, posted on X (formerly Twitter) urging supporters to come in large numbers at 2 PM for a gathering, stating, "We will hold a meeting; this is our legal and constitutional right." Notably, PTI had requested permission from the DC for a public rally in Rawalpindi on September 28.
