Delhi Schools Receive Multiple Bomb Threats via Mass Email: A Hoax for the Third Time

Delhi, 13 Dec-2024 : For the third time in recent years, schools in Delhi have been subjected to bomb threats via mass email. The threats, which targeted over 250 schools across the National Capital Region (NCR), were similar to previous hoaxes that caused widespread alarm but were ultimately determined to be false.

The latest series of threats arrived earlier this week, sending shockwaves through educational institutions and law enforcement agencies. The emails, which were received by schools in different parts of Delhi, claimed that explosives had been planted on campuses. Authorities, however, were quick to dismiss the threats as a hoax after thorough investigations and searches revealed no signs of any danger.

This is not the first time Delhi's educational institutions have been subjected to such false alarms. On May 1 of this year, over 250 schools in the NCR were similarly threatened with explosives in another mass email campaign. That incident, like the current one, was later confirmed to be a hoax.

In fact, in the past two years alone, there have been at least five other instances where individual schools across Delhi were sent bomb threats, all of which were later declared hoaxes. However, the recent mass email threats appear to be a disturbing escalation in the nature of these incidents, with a far wider reach than before.

Delhi Police have stated that they are investigating the matter and taking necessary steps to trace the source of the emails. "We are working with cybersecurity experts to track down the origin of these emails. Our priority is to ensure the safety and security of students, teachers, and staff," a senior police officer said.

Parents and school authorities have expressed concern over the repeated bomb threats, which continue to disrupt daily routines and create unnecessary panic. "This constant fear and disruption is deeply unsettling for everyone involved. We hope the authorities will take stronger measures to prevent such incidents in the future," said Anita Sharma, a parent of a student at one of the affected schools.

The Delhi government has also urged schools to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies during such incidents. In a statement, the Education Department reminded institutions to follow established safety protocols in case of any emergency, including evacuations and communication with local authorities.

As Delhi grapples with this recurring issue, there is growing concern over the psychological impact these false threats are having on students and teachers. Education experts stress the importance of providing support to those affected by the trauma of such incidents, especially when they occur repeatedly.

Despite the repeated hoaxes, experts also caution that schools must continue to take any threat seriously until it is proven to be false, urging a balance between vigilance and ensuring the mental well-being of students.

While investigations into this latest round of threats continue, authorities are hopeful that enhanced digital tracking methods will soon help identify the perpetrators behind these malicious acts and bring an end to the cycle of hoaxes targeting schools across the city.
