Dharavi Rocked by Massive LPG Cylinder Explosions; Firefighters Avert Major Disaster

Mumbai: A series of explosions shook Dharavi on Thursday night after a parked truck carrying over 20 LPG cylinders caught fire near the Dharavi bus depot on the Sion-Dharavi Link Road, close to Nature Park. The incident occurred around 9:50 PM, triggering a Level-II fire alert.

The fire started due to a gas leak from one of the cylinders, leading to a chain reaction of explosions. Fortunately, no injuries have been reported so far. However, eyewitnesses stated that had the truck been parked in a congested residential area, the situation could have been catastrophic.

The fire brigade responded swiftly, managing to bring the blaze under control. Several vehicles parked in a no-parking zone nearby were damaged, and concerns remain over the proximity of slum settlements to the explosion site.
