Diwali Celebrated at the White House: The Spirit of Happy Diwali

Washington, New Delhi : The White House, the official residence of the American President, hosted a celebration of Diwali, the festival of lights symbolizing happiness, prosperity, and abundance. At the end of the event, everyone exchanged Diwali greetings, with people seen shaking hands and wishing each other a "Happy Diwali." On this occasion, President Joe Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris, who is also running for President.

A video released on the White House’s official handle began with the greeting "Happy Diwali." During the event, President Joe Biden remarked, "My wife Jill Biden wanted to be here, but she is in Wisconsin. Kamala Harris is also traveling. You know, I have chosen Kamala as my political successor for many reasons. She is smart and strong. She can be trusted. She has more experience than Trump."

In America, Diwali celebrations have been ongoing for about ten days. From Times Square in the heart of Manhattan to Pennsylvania, Indian-American communities are immersed in the festivities. A few days ago, according to a post from the Indian Consulate in New York, the Indian-American community and their American friends gathered in Times Square to celebrate Diwali. The Consul General of India in New York, Vinay Pradhan, also attended the event and extended his greetings to everyone. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and New York City Mayor Eric Adams were also present. Deputy Consul General Varun Jephs joined members of the community in celebrating Diwali with Indian travelers in Upper Darby, Pennsylvania, alongside the Khalsa Asian American Association.
