Don't Support, But...": Eknath Shinde’s Newton’s Law Take on Sena Vandalism

Mumbai, Maharashtra: Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has broken his silence on the recent vandalism at Mumbai's Habitat studio by Shiv Sena workers over comedian Kunal Kamra's parody. While stating that he does not support the act, Shinde justified it by quoting Newton's Third Law: "Every action has a reaction."
The controversy erupted after Kamra mocked Shinde in a stand-up show, calling him a 'gaddar' (traitor) for his 2022 rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray, which led to the collapse of the MVA government. Multiple FIRs have been filed against Kamra, who remains defiant, questioning whether the law applies equally to those who vandalized the studio and the BMC officials who later demolished parts of it citing building violations.
Shinde, in an interview with BBC Marathi, alleged a political conspiracy behind Kamra's remarks. He also criticized the comedian for targeting political leaders, journalists, and industrialists, stating that such comments vitiate the atmosphere.
The Opposition, led by Uddhav Thackeray, has slammed the vandalism, backing Kamra's right to speech. The Habitat studio, now shut down temporarily, expressed distress over being unfairly targeted for artists' views.
