Elon Musk Predicts Justin Trudeau’s Political Downfall Following Trump’s Win, as India-Canada Relations Remain Tense

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has recently stirred controversy by predicting a political shift in Canada, suggesting that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau may be on his way out in the next general election. The Canadian federal election, expected to occur by October 20, 2025, will be a critical test for Trudeau’s leadership amid increasing scrutiny both domestically and internationally.

Musk’s Remarks on Trudeau and Canadian Politics

The prediction came in response to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, in which a user called for Musk’s "help" in removing Trudeau from power. Musk’s response was straightforward: “He will be gone in the upcoming election.” Musk’s comment builds on his vocal support for former U.S. President Donald Trump, whom he actively campaigned for, expressing confidence in Trump’s recent success in the U.S. Presidential polls.
Musk also shared his thoughts on European politics, commenting on Germany’s Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Responding to a post discussing the collapse of Germany’s socialist government and speculations of a snap election, Musk remarked, “Olaf ist ein Narr” (German for “Olaf is a fool”).

Trudeau’s Election Challenges

Trudeau’s position as Prime Minister has faced mounting opposition. Leading the Liberal Party since 2013, Trudeau is now confronted with a minority government situation, increasing the likelihood of potential losses in the upcoming election. Trudeau’s party will face a strong challenge from Pierre Poilievre’s Conservative Party and Jagmeet Singh’s New Democratic Party, both critical of Trudeau’s policies, including his stance on immigration.
Canada’s Tense Relations with India
As Trudeau prepares for a challenging election, Canada’s relationship with India has reached a historical low. This diplomatic strain was intensified by Trudeau’s allegations linking the Indian government to the killing of Khalistani separatist Hardeep Singh Nijjar. India strongly denied these claims, calling them "baseless."
India has also raised concerns about rising Khalistani extremism in Canada, pointing to Trudeau’s administration as allowing “anti-India activities” on Canadian soil. In a significant diplomatic move, India recalled its High Commissioner from Canada, citing a lack of faith in the Canadian government’s ability to ensure their safety. The Indian government withdrew its diplomats after Canadian officials named Sanjay Verma, India’s High Commissioner to Canada, as a “person of interest” in the Nijjar murder investigation.
As the 2025 Canadian elections approach, Trudeau will face not only domestic pressures but also strained diplomatic ties, notably with India. These developments, amplified by high-profile figures like Musk, signal a critical turning point for Trudeau’s political future and Canada’s role on the global stage.
