Five Booked for Child Marriage in Thane, Another Wedding Stopped in Ulhasnagar

Thane, Maharashtra: The Thane Police have registered a case against five people, including the parents, in-laws, and husband of a 16-year-old girl, for allegedly marrying her off at a young age. The case has been filed under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS), POCSO Act, and Prohibition of Child Marriage Act. No arrests have been made yet.

Meanwhile, in Ulhasnagar, authorities foiled another child marriage after receiving an anonymous tip. A 16-year-old girl was about to be married to a 24-year-old man from Solapur, but child welfare officials intervened just in time. The girl’s family cited personal reasons for the early marriage. A case has been registered against the groom, parents, and priest involved, and the minor has been provided with appropriate care and support.
