Fog Frenzy Grips Delhi: Flight Operations and Road Traffic Disrupted

Delhi,NorthIndia: In the early hours of Saturday, dense fog completely enveloped parts of north India, including Delhi, bringing flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) to a halt. With visibility dropping to zero in several areas, both arrivals and departures were temporarily suspended, as announced by IndiGo. The airline also warned of further delays once flights resumed, due to airside congestion.
Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) took to social media to notify passengers about the disruption, urging them to check with respective airlines for updated flight details.
The weather conditions also affected road traffic, with commuters in Delhi, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh facing major delays due to reduced visibility. Local authorities confirmed that road traffic was moving at a snail's pace across these areas.
Temperature in Delhi hovered around 21.2°C, slightly above average, while the air quality index (AQI) surged to a "very poor" rating of 371, further compounding the already challenging situation.
More than 400 flights were delayed, as the fog hit with significant severity. Passengers are advised to stay updated with the airlines for further developments.
